Nebraska Volleyball 2025: A Perfect Season of Power, Poise, and Pure Domination
Written by : Kamal khan

The 2025 Nebraska volleyball team delivered one of the greatest seasons I have ever witnessed — and I say that as someone who stood inside Pinnacle Bank Arena on opening night. Finishing 30-0, with a 1.000 winning percentage, 20-0 in the conference, perfect at home and away, and a 30-match winning streak, the Huskers looked unstoppable from start to finish.

In this article, I will take you through every match of the season, from the very first serve in August to the final match in November. I will share what I believe, what I saw with my own eyes, and what I think made this one of the most complete teams in modern volleyball.

AVCA First Serve Tournament

Nebraska vs. Pittsburgh — Win 3-1 (Aug 22, Neutral)

I was present for this match, and from the first rally I could feel something different about this team. Nebraska opened the season against No. 3 Pittsburgh, and even though Pitt pushed hard in the second set, the Huskers controlled the match with strong blocking and calm serving.
I think this match set the tone for the entire season — Nebraska was confident, well-prepared, and hungry.

Nebraska vs. Stanford — Win 3-0 (Aug 24, Neutral)

Against No. 6 Stanford, Nebraska played some of the cleanest volleyball I’ve seen in an early-season match. Their defense read everything, and their transition play was sharp.
I believe this sweep told the college volleyball world that Nebraska wasn’t easing into the season — they were already in championship form.

Broadway Block Party (Nashville)

Nebraska at Lipscomb — Win 3-0 (Aug 29, Away)

Traveling to Nashville didn’t slow the Huskers one bit. Lipscomb struggled to adjust to Nebraska’s pace, and the Huskers’ serve-receive looked steady from start to finish.
I think this match was where Nebraska’s depth really started to show.

Nebraska vs. Kentucky — Win 3-2 (Aug 31, Neutral)

This was one of the toughest matches of the year. No. 7 Kentucky pushed Nebraska to five sets with strong serving and fearless swings. But Nebraska stayed composed, winning the decisive set with clutch blocking.
I believe this comeback win strengthened the team’s identity.

Ameritas Players Challenge (Lincoln)

Nebraska vs. Wright State — Win 3-0 (Sept 5, Home)

Back home at the Devaney Center, Nebraska dominated every phase of the match. Wright State played scrappy, but Nebraska’s offense was too balanced.
I think this was a “reset match” after the intense weekend in Nashville.

Nebraska vs. California — Win 3-0 (Sept 7, Home)

Cal struggled to get the ball past Nebraska’s block. The Huskers controlled the net and never allowed momentum to shift.
This was the match where the Huskers’ serving improvements became obvious.

Husker Invitational

Nebraska vs. Utah — Win 3-1 (Sept 12, Home)

No. 22 Utah tested Nebraska’s serve-receive early, but once the Huskers adjusted, they rolled through the final three sets.
I believe Utah showed how important Nebraska’s composure was this season.

Nebraska vs. Grand Canyon — Win 3-0 (Sept 13, Home)

Nebraska dismantled GCU with fast offense and excellent back-row digging.
To me, this match proved Nebraska can win fast or win long — whatever is needed.

Non-Conference Road Test

Nebraska at Creighton — Win 3-2 (Sept 16, Away)

Always a fiery rivalry, and Creighton played like it was a championship match. Nebraska’s blocking came up huge in the fifth set.
I think this match built mental toughness that paid off later.

Regular Season Roll

Nebraska vs. Arizona — Win 3-0 (Sept 20, Home)

A clean, controlled sweep. Nebraska’s servers kept Arizona off balance all match long.

Nebraska vs. Michigan — Win 3-0 (Sept 24, Home)

Nebraska’s passing and setting were nearly flawless. Michigan struggled to stay in system.

Nebraska vs. Maryland — Win 3-0 (Sept 27, Home)

Maryland’s strong block wasn’t enough to slow Nebraska. The Huskers’ hitters found every seam.

East Coast Road Trip

Nebraska at Penn State — Win 3-0 (Oct 3, Away)

Winning at Rec Hall is never easy, but Nebraska dominated from start to finish.
I believe this was one of the most impressive wins of the season.

Nebraska at Rutgers — Win 3-0 (Oct 4, Away)

A business-like sweep. Nebraska never allowed Rutgers to go on any run.

Mid-Season Tests

Nebraska vs. Washington — Win 3-0 (Oct 10, Home)

A Stripe-Out crowd made this match electric. Nebraska played with confidence and control.

Nebraska at Purdue — Win 3-0 (Oct 12, Away)

Purdue’s home environment is loud, but Nebraska handled it beautifully.

Nebraska at Michigan State — Win 3-0 (Oct 17, Away)

Another road sweep, fueled by Nebraska’s serve pressure.

Nebraska at Michigan — Win 3-0 (Oct 19, Away)

Michigan could never break Nebraska’s rhythm. A calm, steady sweep.

Home Stand Dominance

Nebraska vs. Northwestern — Win 3-0 (Oct 24, Home)

A Pink Match sweep with strong execution from every starter.

Nebraska vs. Michigan State — Win 3-0 (Oct 25, Home)

Back-to-back sweeps as Nebraska continued to perfect its blocking schemes.

Late-Season Road Challenges

Nebraska at Wisconsin — Win 3-0 (Oct 31, Away)

Winning in Madison is extremely rare — but Nebraska did it in a sweep.
I think this match proved Nebraska was the clear No. 1 team in the country.

Closing the Regular Season

Nebraska vs. Oregon — Win 3-0 (Nov 2, Home)

Nebraska controlled the net and kept Oregon out of system.

Nebraska vs. Illinois — Win 3-0 (Nov 6, Home)

A strong defensive showing led to another sweep.

Nebraska at Minnesota — Win 3-0 (Nov 8, Away)

Minnesota tried to slow the match down, but Nebraska kept attacking with confidence.

Nebraska at UCLA — Win 3-1 (Nov 14, Away)

One of the few matches where Nebraska lost a set, but they responded with powerful offense.

Nebraska at USC — Win 3-0 (Nov 16, Away)

A complete performance to finish the California trip.

Nebraska vs. Iowa — Win 3-0 (Nov 20, Home)

Another clean sweep at home.

Nebraska at Indiana — Win 3-0 (Nov 22, Away)

Indiana tried to challenge Nebraska’s back court, but the Huskers were too quick.

Nebraska vs. Penn State — Win 3-0 (Nov 28, Home)

A Black-Out match with huge energy — Nebraska fed off the crowd all afternoon.

Nebraska vs. Ohio State — Win 3-0 (Nov 29, Home)

The final match of the regular season, and Nebraska ended it with another dominating sweep.

Conclusion: A Season That Redefined Excellence

In conclusion, I would say the 2025 Nebraska volleyball team delivered a season that will be remembered for decades. I think their balance, consistency, and mental toughness made them nearly unbeatable. I believe being there on opening night let me feel the spark that carried through all 30 wins.

Perfect seasons are rare. But Nebraska didn’t just win — they dominated, from the first serve of August to the final point in November.

This was a team built for greatness, and they lived up to every expectation.
