Which gate you enter matters more than which lot you pick. Here is how parking actually works at the Bob Devaney Sports Center — the public entrance, the ADA stalls, what it costs, and the no re-entry rule that catches out first-time visitors.

Read this before you lock the car

The Devaney Sports Center operates a strict no re-entry policy. Once you have scanned in, you cannot step out to the car and come back on the same ticket, and Nebraska states there are no exceptions. Whatever you need for the next two hours has to come in with you — and it has to fit the clear bag rules. This is the single most common mistake visiting fans make.

Entrances

Which gate should you drive to?

The lots sit inside Nebraska Innovation Campus and each is reached through a specific gate. Driving to the wrong one means circling the campus in match traffic, so set your route before you leave.

Public Parking Gate 4 Along Salt Creek Roadway. This is the one most visiting fans want.
Lots 50, 53, 54, 57, 58 Gate 2 Intersection of Salt Creek Roadway and N. 21st Street.
Lots 52, 54, 60 Gate 1 Intersection of Military Avenue and North Antelope Valley Parkway.
Lot 56 Direct access From North Antelope Valley Parkway.

Alternative public option: if you are travelling southbound on North Antelope Valley Parkway, you can turn right into the gravel lot just south of the Transportation Services building. It is a useful backup when the Gate 4 queue backs up.

Where fans actually park

Public parking is sold per match, so there is nothing to book in advance. What you are choosing between is walking distance and how fast you can get out afterwards.

The main public option, entered from Salt Creek Roadway. Sold on a single-match basis, so no permit or pre-purchase is involved — you pay on arrival by card.

Lot 52

Gravel lot, Transportation Services

The surface lot just south of the Transportation Services building off North Antelope Valley Parkway. Longer walk, but you are turning off a through road rather than joining a gate queue.

Do not head for 16th and Court: the Devaney lots at 16th and Court Streets are available for other campus events but are excluded on Husker volleyball match days. Several older guides still list them.

What parking costs

Two rates apply depending on whether football is playing the same day.

Bring a card, not cash. Public parking is listed as credit or debit. Turning up with only notes is the other classic way to end up stuck at the entrance.

Accessible parking and access

ADA public parking stalls sit on the east side of the Devaney Sports Center on N. 17th Street and in Lot 52 on the south side. They are sold first-come, first-served, so early arrival is the only thing that reliably secures one.

  • Display your accessible placard or plate clearly.
  • Lot 52 is reached via Gate 1 at Military Avenue and N. Antelope Valley Parkway.
  • Elevators are inside the building on the northeast and southeast sides.
  • Accessible seating is in sections B-7 to B-10 row 7, B-11D and C-10.
  • Service animals are welcome; emotional support and therapy animals are not permitted.

When to arrive

Doors open 90 minutes before first serve, or 60 minutes if Nebraska is not playing the opening match of a session. That is your real planning anchor — not the start time on the ticket.

  • Standard match: arrive about 60 minutes before first serve.
  • Ranked opponent, weekend or crossover day: make it 90 minutes.
  • Parking, walking and the bag check together take longer than the drive suggests.
  • Alcohol sales stop at the start of the third set, if that shapes your timing.

What you can carry in

Because there is no re-entry, the bag rules are effectively parking rules — anything that fails the check has to go back to the car before you scan in.

  • Clear tote bags up to 12" x 6" x 12".
  • One-gallon clear plastic bags.
  • Small handheld purses up to 4.5" x 6.5".

What gets turned away

Leave these in the vehicle. Event staff can refuse entry on any of them, and there is no bag check to fall back on.

  • Coolers, chairbacks and lawn chairs.
  • Outside alcohol, glass bottles and cans.
  • Noise makers and banners or flags on poles.
  • Video cameras, selfie sticks and open umbrellas.
  • Bags that do not meet the clear bag sizes above.

Ride-share instead

Worth considering on crossover days, when parking costs more and traffic is at its worst. Set your pickup a few blocks out rather than at the arena doors — drivers struggle to reach the building itself when a full house is leaving at once.

Getting out afterwards

Over 10,000 people leave through a handful of gates. If you are not chasing a flight, staying in your seat for ten minutes after the handshake line usually costs you less time than sitting in the exit queue.

Bad weather

Open umbrellas are prohibited inside and there is no re-entry, so a wet walk from an overflow lot means a wet evening. In November, that is a good reason to pay for the closer option.

Clear tote bags up to 12" x 6" x 12", one-gallon clear plastic bags, and small handheld purses up to 4.5" x 6.5". Anything else has to stay in the vehicle, and given the no re-entry rule it is worth sorting this out in the parking lot rather than at the gate.

The university permits responsible tailgating, but be aware that intoxicated guests are refused entry to the arena. Coolers are also on the prohibited list inside, so whatever you set up stays at the car.
Not for volleyball. Those Devaney lots are used for other campus events but are specifically excluded on Husker volleyball match days, despite still appearing in some older parking guides.
For season ticket holders, yes — parking was reassigned alongside seats in the 2026 reseat, so your allocation may not match previous years. Public parking arrangements work the same way as before, but a bigger crowd means the lots fill sooner.
Often, particularly on crossover days. Set your pickup point a short walk from the arena rather than at the doors — drivers cannot easily reach the building while a full house is leaving.

Three things and you are sorted

Route to the right gate, bring a card, and carry in everything you will want for the next two hours. Do those and the rest of the evening is just volleyball.
