What the schedule tells you before a ball is served
Nebraska plays six ranked opponents in the first seven weeks and does not have a home match until September 10. The opening stretch is four neutral-site events in eleven days — Arlington, Las Vegas twice, Brookings, then Chicago twice — which is a lot of travel to ask of a rotation that is still sorting out a second middle and a second outside hitter.
That matters for reading the numbers. Expect the team hitting percentage to look unsettled through mid-September and to stabilise once the Devaney Center stretch begins. The honest checkpoint is the Creighton match on September 16, by which point Nebraska will have played seven times.
Nineteen of the 29 matches carry a national or regional broadcast, and eleven are on Big Ten Network. The three FOX windows — Texas, Missouri at Wrigley Field and Wisconsin — are the ones the sport is using to test its broadcast ceiling.

AVCA Setter of the Year and Big Ten Player of the Year in 2025 — only the second Husker ever to win the conference award. Added 73 kills, 67 blocks and 19 aces. She has 3,723 career assists, third in school history for the rally-scoring era, and a 10.70 career assists-per-set average that ranks second at Nebraska in that era.
Andi Jackson
Senior · Middle blocker · Brighton, Colo.
Her .467 hitting percentage led the nation and is the third-best single season in Nebraska history. In Big Ten matches only she hit .559, a conference single-season record that broke a mark standing since 2008. Career hitting percentage of .437 is first all-time at Nebraska and first among active Division I players. Added 16 aces.
Harper Murray
Senior · Outside hitter · Ann Arbor, Mich.
Career highs in kills per set, hitting percentage and points per set (4.21). A six-rotation player: 0.60 blocks per set, a team-high 34 aces, and a 2.52 passing average. She sits on 1,181 career kills, 19th all-time at Nebraska and 10th in the rally-scoring era, with a career 3.38 kills per set that trails only Sarah Pavan and Jordan Larson in that era.

2025 team benchmarks
Last season set the reference points every 2026 number gets compared against. Two of them are school records.
Nebraska hit .351 as a team in 2025 — the best season hitting percentage in program history, and roughly twenty points clear of a record that had stood since 1986. That single number explains most of the rest of the season. An offense that efficient does not need to serve at high risk, does not need long rallies to score, and does not lose sets to its own error column.
The Huskers hit .400 or better in nine matches, also a program record. They finished 33–1 overall and 20–0 in the Big Ten for a sixth conference title and a third in a row, before a five-set loss to eventual national champion Texas A&M in the regional final.
Four Huskers were named AVCA All-Americans, which pushed Nebraska's all-time total to 111 — more than any other program.
The realistic 2026 read
A .351 team hitting percentage is close to a ceiling, and it was built partly on two middles hitting above .450. One of those two graduated. If Nebraska hits in the .320s this year with a new second middle, that is a good season, not a decline — and the honest way to read this page in October is against that range rather than against .351.

Where the numbers actually go
Allick's departure is the one that shows up in the team hitting percentage. Nebraska ran two middles who both hit above .450, which is not a thing most programs get to do once, let alone simultaneously. Manaia Ogbechie and Kenna Cogill are the candidates to take that second middle spot, and whichever one gets it is the single stat line worth watching in September.
On the pin, Landfair's swings redistribute among Teraya Sigler, Skyler Pierce and freshman Gabby DiVita. Expect Murray's kills-per-set to hold or rise slightly rather than fall — when a rotation loses an attacker, the ball tends to find the returning All-American.
In the back row, Laney Choboy and Olivia Mauch split the libero jersey in 2025 by matchup and both return. If that split continues, neither will post the raw dig totals of a full-time libero, which is worth remembering before comparing their numbers to other teams' starters.

How to read a volleyball stat sheet
The abbreviations on this page match the ones on official NCAA box scores. If you are new to the sport, these are the six that carry the most meaning.
- Hitting percentage (PCT)
- (Kills − attack errors) ÷ total attempts. Anything above .300 is strong; a team season above .350 is rare. It can be negative.
- Kills per set (K/set)
- The fairest way to compare attackers, because matches run three, four or five sets. Totals reward players on teams that get dragged into long matches.
- Assists per set (A/set)
- Almost entirely a setter statistic. Above 10.00 means a setter is running nearly every ball in a two-setter-free system.
- Blocks per set (B/set)
- Solo blocks plus block assists. Middle blockers above 1.00 are producing at a high level; outside hitters above 0.60 are unusually good at the net.
- Points per set
- Kills + aces + solo blocks + half of each block assist, per set. The closest thing volleyball has to a single all-round scoring number.
- Passing rating
- A 0–3 score for serve receive. Above 2.30 is good, above 2.50 is excellent. It does not appear on standard box scores but coaches quote it constantly.
